  • WHO is seeking for a qualified, eligible and competent proposer for the WHO-Kanagawa Partnership on Healthy Ageing and Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) in the Western PacificPopulation ageing and the rising burden of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are reshaping health systems, economies, and societies across the Western Pacific Region. While many countries are experiencing rapid demographic transitions, the pace of ageing, the epidemiological profile of NCDs, and the capacity of health systems to respond vary widely, particularly between high-income settings and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Despite growing global evidence on effective interventions for NCD prevention and healthy ageing, significant gaps remain in context-specific implementation, scalability, and policy uptake. Many proven or promising interventions fail to translate into routine practice due to limitations in health system readiness, financing, workforce capacity, governance, or community acceptability. These gaps are especially pronounced in LMICs and small island developing states in the Western Pacific.The WHO-Kanagawa Partnership on NCDs and Healthy Ageing in the Western Pacific was established through a strategic partnership between WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific and Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, to address these challenges.
