Description:
A receiving environment monitoring program (REMP) could be imposed upon an environmental approval for environmentally relevant activities (ERAs) under the Environmental Protection Act 1994. REMP objective is to monitor and assess the potential impacts of controlled or uncontrolled releases of wastewater and associated contaminant to the environment from a regulated activity. REMP provides a basis for evaluating whether the discharge limits administered by the environmental approval have been successful in sustaining or protecting receiving environment values over time. Bundaberg Regional Council (BRC) operates wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) under an environmental approval EPPR01507513. The environmental approval requires BRC to implement REMP. BRC seeks an experienced environmental consultant to undertake an annual REMP for following four (4) WWTPs: Bargara, Childers, Gin Gin and Thabeban. The program aims to determine the effects of treated sewage effluent contaminants released from the WWTPs in into the receiving environment.
