- This Approach to Market seeks to procure the services of organisation/s for the distribution of Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme (PBS) medicines to community pharmacies across Australia. Distribution must be conducted in accordance with the Community Service Obligation (CSO) Compliance Requirements and Service Standards. Services are also required to support the prevention and management of onshore medicine shortages. Successful organisation/s will be subsidised for the additional costs required to meet these conditions through a fixed annual funding pool. The CSO operates as a fixed funding pool where organisations eligible for CSO payments can be remunerated based on the units of CSO products they distribute to community pharmacies. Capability to distribution CSO products in accordance with the following compliance requirements and service standards is necessary. Compliance Requirements 1. Provide a single-entry point for Distribution Points to order CSO products, receive information and resolve queries 2. Maintain access to the established infrastructure and sufficient financial capacity to meet the CSO Standards and Compliance Requirements 3. Maintain the quality of CSO products they supply, including meeting all applicable storage condition requirements, holding all necessary State and Territory licenses and complying with the Code of Good Wholesaling Practices for Medicines in Schedules 2, 3, 4, and 8.
