Inner West Council invites qualified and experienced contractors to tender for the re-roofing of a timber shingle roof to Clontarf Cottage, a heritage significant sandstone cottage located at 4 Wallace Street, Balmain, NSW 2041.Requirements:• Respondents must demonstrate experience in roofing with hand-split timber shingles.• The project architect has specified Rose Sheoak (Casuarina torulosa) timber shingles. However, respondents are advised that this species is no longer harvested in Australia.• Respondents must include in their tender supply and installation of an Australian hardwood class 1 timber shingle of either Red and Grey Ironbark, Grey Box, Red Bloodwood, or Red Mahogany.Eligibility:• To be eligible to tender, respondents must demonstrate experience as a head contractor in timber shingle roofing or provide evidence of a nominated sub-contractor's experience.• References and a portfolio of previous work must be provided.• RFT responses that do not demonstrate this experience, or offer an alternate species such as Western Red Cedar, shingles that are not hand split ie machine-sawn, or shingles of differing dimensions as documented in the Specification may be deemed ineligible for consideration.Scope of Work:• The scope includes allowances for PC Sums for additional work that may be required upon commencement of the roofing work. This includes repairs to the roof structure, making good electrical cabling above ceilings, and renewal of flashing and rainwater goods.• P...
