Description:
This project will assess the flood warning requirements of Springdale village, located in Temora Shire in the NSW Riverina, and propose specific measures and prepare designs for future implementation. This will be done in close collaboration with the relevant response and flood warning agencies and stakeholders. Council adopted the Ariah Park and Springdale Floodplain Risk Management Plan and Study (FRMS&P) in March 2024 and is now progressively implementing the recommendations from the Plan.One of the high priority actions recommended by the FRMS&P is to investigate, design and implement a flood warning system for Springdale. The proposed features of the option is described within the FRMS&P as follows:• The installation of a telemetered stream gauge and its linking of a public announcement system which would warn residents in Springdale of rising water levels in Gundibindyal Creek and one of its tributaries and to take action as required.• The installation of warning signs and flashing lights on Burley Griffin Way which are linked to the telemetered stream gauge.Council would like these options (along with any others deemed necessary) to be investigated and an appropriate flood warning system designed for Springdale.
