Description:
The existing pedestrian bridge connecting Pental Island and Pioneer Settlement is currently closed to the public due to its dilapidated condition, as identified in multiple independent studies undertaken by Council. This project aims to engage a qualified consultant to provide a detailed design for the preferred pedestrian bridge option to restore safe public access. The new pedestrian bridge will play a vital role in enabling access to Pental Island from the Pioneer Settlement, which is a key aspect of Council's strategic efforts to activate the social and economic benefits outlined in the recently completed Pental Island Cultural Masterplan 2023. This initiative will support Council's objective of increasing liveability and providing opportunities for cultural experiences. Due to the complexity of this project, which includes landholder consent requirements and coordination with multiple authorities, an experienced consultant specializing in bridge infrastructure is required. The scope of work includes stakeholder consultation, obtaining necessary approvals and permits, and the development of detailed design features. No cross-border permits are required for this project as the work site is located entirely within Victoria.
