- The Department of Health and Aged Care (Department) uses health technology assessments (HTAs) to inform decisions about which health technologies can be sold in Australia, and which ones qualify for Australian Government subsidy. The Department intends to go out to open tender to seek tenders to establish a new HTA Panel arrangement of clinical experts and health technology assessment service organisations and individuals to provide a range of assessments, review, and research support services to the Department, specifically in relation but not limited to : · public funding of health services and technologies on the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) · medicines for listing on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) · vaccines to be included on the National Immunisation Program (NIP) · suitability of medical devices and human tissues products for listing on the Prescribed List (PL) of Benefits for Medical Devices and Human Tissue Products.
