- Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council invites Tenders from suitably qualified and experienced Civil contractors for construction of concrete pavement and drainage upgrades to Butler Bay Road and Thiaday Road on Great Palm Island. This work is intended to repair natural disaster damage and improve the disaster resilience and the stormwater management performance of the asset.Butler Bay Road is the only all-weather road between the Butler Bay and the rest of the Palm Island community. As such, Tenders should should include methodologies that demonstrate specific knowledge of the area with emphasis placed on the staging of works such that full width closure of the road and other disruptions to traffic are minimised. Tenders are to note that all ready-mix concrete will be supplied to site by the Principal and that the Principal will be responsible for all quality conformance aspects of the supplied concrete. Great Palm Island is located approximately 20km off the North Queensland coast between Townsville and Lucinda. Passenger access is via air or ferry, vehicle access via ferry and bulk materials deliveries are via barge from Townsville or Lucinda.All other project resources are to be supplied by the Tenderer.
