BRUCE HIGHWAY TARGETED SAFETY PROGRAM - EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST TO ATTEND AN INTERACTIVE INDUSTRY BRIEFING 1. Major investment in Bruce Highway safety improvements In January 2025, the Australian Government announced a $7.2 billion funding commitment to enhance safety on the Bruce Highway. The Queensland Government is contributing an additional $1.8 billion, bringing the total investment to $9 billion—the largest single funding allocation ever made for the highway. This jointly funded program will focus on delivering critical safety improvements along priority sections north of Gympie. In response to the tragic road toll on the Bruce Highway in 2024, this initiative represents a significant and necessary step toward reducing crash severity and frequency, benefiting both communities and industry. The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is committed to delivering this ambitious program. Its success will rely on strong collaboration across all levels of government, stakeholders and industry to ensure timely and effective implementation. 2.
