Description:
Migration of Bhutanese workers to Australia has increasedsharply in recent years, raising concerns regarding potential brain drain andimplications for Bhutan-s development. Administrative exit data indicate asharp rise in departures since 2020, while international sources show a rapidincrease in the stock of Bhutanese migrants in Australia, many of whom arestudents.The World Bank Group is undertaking a study of the Bhutanese diaspora inAustralia to better understand migrants- socio-demographic profiles, educationand labor market outcomes, household arrangements, remittance behavior,networks, and future intentions. The findings will inform policy dialogue withthe Royal Government of Bhutan on managed migration, diaspora engagement,remittances, and circular migration.The objective of this assignment is to engage an experiencedAustralia-based data collection firm to design and implement a quantitativesurvey of Bhutanese migrants residing in Australia, in close coordination withthe World Bank task team.
